Following various complaints of faulty storm water drains during a recent meeting of Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM) works, Deputy Commissioner, C Shikha, accompanied by Mysore City Corporation (MMC) officials, inspected JnNURM works, here on Thursday.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, C Shikha said that there were certain “missing links”, while works for storm water drains were taken up under the scheme, which had resulted in water logging during rainfall. “Areas such as Yadavagiri and localities around Tipu Masjid in the city were facing severe problems,” she said.

Following the inspection visit, she instructed MCC officials to take up works so that the problems can be addressed at the earliest and the inconvenience caused to residents of the said areas, can be sorted out at the earliest.

“Certain other issues regarding the works pertaining to the storm water drains requires us to coordinate with the Railway department.

I will meet the Divisional Railway Manager and speak to him regarding the issues,” she said.

Inspection

Inspection of Town Hall and Raja Marga works were also held during the day by the DC. She said that even though most of the works at Town Hall were complete, finishing works at the historic hall was still pending.

Similarly, Raja Marga works too were not complete. “While Town Hall works can be completed in a short period of time, instructions have been sent to the contractor to increase the number of labourers, so that works pertaining to Raja Marga can be completed in a time bound manner,” she said.

Report

She said that an inspection report, regarding the works inspected by her has been filed. An inspection will be conducted shortly, in order to ensure that the works have been complete, as directed, she added.

She said that the “basic complaint” from the public was regarding storm water drains, due to which the inspection was conducted.
