Minister pays surprise visit to hospital

Health Minister U T Khader on Thursday said that the funds for the development of the hospitals under National Rural Health Mission Scheme of the government has been increased to Rs 2.50 lakh from Rs 1.75 lakh.

The minister, who was on a surprise visit to the Government Hospital in Javagal inspected all the wards and the premises. Keeping in mind the rise in the number of patients in rural hospitals, necessary medicines required for the hospitals will be supplied hereafter, he said. Earlier, medicines amounting to Rs one lakh was provided to rural hospitals every month. 

The issue of staff shortage at all the government hospitals across the State will be sorted out soon, he assured.

He directed the hospital authorities to arrange district level health camps under ‘Arogya Sri’ scheme and also sought an update on the utilisation of funds. He stressed on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the hospital. 

Later, he visited the historical darga and offered prayers. He directed the district Ayush officials to open a clinic at the darga soon.
