ED issues summons to Marans

Last Updated 30 October 2014, 20:26 IST

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran, his brother Kalanidhi and other accused in the Aircel-Maxis case to appear before it to record their statements.

The notices were issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). On Wednesday, a Delhi court had asked Marans and other accused to appear before it on March 2 next year after taking cognizance of a charge sheet filed by the CBI in the Aircel-Maxis case.

The ED may issue notice to attach assets worth around Rs 742 crore, which the CBI alleged, was given as bribe to Maran.

However, officials said, before moving ahead with attachment, they would want to get the side of Marans and other accused.
