Man killed as private bus runs into car on flyover

A 34-year-old man died instantly when a private bus—said to be driven rashly—ploughed into the median of the flyover on Tumkur Road before ramming his car that was coming from the opposite direction in the early hours of Monday.

Due to the impact of the collision, Vikas, who was driving the car, died on the spot and his friends were seriously injured, the police said. Muddassir Pasha, driver of another car, was also injured. Passersby rushed the injured to the hospital and called the police who seized the bus and arrested the driver.

“The witnesses told us that the bus driver was rash and negligent. He lost control over the wheel and ended up on the other side of the road. We are investigating if he was drunk,” said a senior police officer.

Wall painter run over

In another incident, a 56-year-old wall painter was killed on the spot when a speeding motorcycle knocked him down in Peenya. Police have identified the deceased as Shivaraj, a resident of Kempegowda Nagar. The police said they were trying to trace the rider.

Pedestrian mowed down

In the third incident, an unidentified man died after an unknown vehicle ran him over on the Outer Ring Road near Kalyan Nagar. According to police, the person is aged around 28 and was killed on the spot while crossing the road. The police are trying to ascertain the identity of the person and trace the vehicle which him.


Couple robbed

A software engineer couple was robbed of a gold chain and Rs 11,200 in cash by two unidentified men near their home in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, HSR Layout, on Sunday.

Rachita, who was on night shift, was being accompanied by her husband towards their car, parked at a distance from the apartment, when two unidentified men on a two-wheeler threatened them with a knife and asked them to hand over the cash and jewels. The couple parted with the gold chain and Rs 11,200 in cash. The couple later approached the Bommanahalli police station and lodged a complaint.
