Providing a platform for artists

Last Updated 10 November 2014, 14:38 IST

For budding artists who lack the platform to showcase their art, ‘Cupick’ is a website where you can promote and share your work. It is a platform for visual artists - illustrators, designers, painters, photographers and digital artists - to showcase, share and sell their work on various consumables such as art prints, canvas work, posters, cards and more.

It allows artists to upload their artwork, select products they would like to sell and set their own pricing. ‘Cupick’ then steps in and takes care of the payments, production, shipping and customer service.

The team consists of three core members Shaishav, founder and CEO, is at the helm of product development. He hails from an entrepreneurial family, so building a business comes naturally to him. He ensures that everyone at ‘Cupick’ is working as one cohesive unit and are focussed on meeting common organisational goals and their immediate personal goals. Rituraj, co-founder, is the resident geek. An engineering graduate, he has been hacking away at codes ever since he got his first 486 machine as a kid in the 90s. He’s responsible for every line of code that keeps ‘Cupick’ running.

Justin got on board when ‘Cupick’ was close to opening up to artists, bringing with him experience in marketing, business development and consumer internet after having headed ‘Sportskeeda’’s e-commerce initiatives. His chief focus is on user acquisition and strategic initiatives.

On signing up with ‘Cupick’, the artist is given his own profile page where he/she can showcase their portfolio of work. The site has a clean and minimalist design which lets your work do all the talking.

It is a platform for people who create or simply appreciate good design and art and is targeted at anyone who creates art. Despite that, ‘Cupick’ is strongly consumer focussed. Justin says, “We find it heartbreaking to see so much artwork being created world over, but very little of it being made available to the people in the form of consumables. You have awesome art, make it accessible to your audience and unlock the value of your idle creative assets.”

‘Cupick’ was started in October and already has 1000 registered users of which 350 are artists who have uploaded their artwork. It provides the creative community with tools to discover, engage and share artworks.“Good art on great products makes the world a better place. We go to great lengths to make sure the products that we offer are of the finest quality,” says Rituraj.

The start-up is actively involved in supporting social causes. One of the causes they have been supporting is for the Kashmir flood victims. “Prathima and Unnati, two designers started designing for Kashmir.

Also, a group of artists and designers are contributing to the artwork to raise funds for rehabilitating those affected by Kashmir floods. They are on a mission to make a difference through art. There was an immediate connect when we got in touch to help them monetise contributed artwork,” adds Shaishav.
