Classic medley of taal, swar, sangeet

The popular festival of Indian classical music and dance is set to regale the city

Indian classical music will once again weave its magic as SaMaPa Sangeet Sammelan is back with its 10th annual edition.

The prestigious musical festival, where prominent musicians perform, will once again enthral the audience.

Slated to be held from November 21 to 23 at Kamani Auditorium, the event is also a gateway
for young musicians with exceptional talent who get a chance to perform along with senior legendary maestros of the country.

On November 21, there will be performances by Swar-laya Samwad (Panch Tatva) – Sameer Bhalerao, Anjani Mishra, Nitin Sharma (vocal) and Dr Manoj Mishra, Deepak Sahai, Sachin Sharma (tabla) with Pt. Vijay Shanker Mishra and santoor recital by Abhay Rustum Sopori.

Also, Rekha Nadgauda, Aditi Nadgauda Panse with Kirti Kala Mandir dance troupe will give a Kathak recital.

On November 22, Ajay Prasanna and Sugato Bhaduri will give a flute and mandolin recital, Dhananjay Hegde will give render Hindustani Classical music, followed by a sitar recital
by Pt Debu Chaudhuri and Prateek Chaudhuri.

The highlight of the last day will be a sitar and cello recital by Shubhendra Rao and Saskia Rao De Haas, Hindustani vocal by Kaivalya Kumar and santoor recital by Pt. Bhajan Sopori.

During the festival there will be performances by other artistes like Ustad Akram Khan, Athar Hussain, Durjay Bhaumik, Mithilesh Jha, Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri, Shailendra Mishra, Subash Kanti Das (tabla), Rishi Shankar Upadhyay (pakhawaj), Ghanshyam Sisodia (sarangi), Damodar Lal Ghose, Paromita Mukherjee, Vinay Mishra (harmonium) and others.

The festival also features a painting and photography exhibition by the artists
from Jammu and Kashmir, and Delhi.

SaMaPa is a cultural movement and brainchild of its chairman, Pt Bhajan Sopori and the tireless efforts of the members of Board in creating a unique, unbiased and empowering platform for presentation, propagation, and teaching of traditional music and performing arts for artists and young talents.

SaMaPa is hailed as a cultural bridge that connects Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the country.
