Ireland beckons

I  am Arun Lakra and am pursuing Masters in Computer Science (Software Engineering) at National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

It has been a great experience studying in Ireland. The University’s campus is beautiful and is equipped with all the facilities required for studies, fun and sports.

Talking about Maynooth as a town, it’s a quaint place with friendly people. A small and vibrant town, it carries a positive vibe in itself. Being from New Delhi, India, one of the biggest cities in the world, I feel at home here.

I am doing well in both the theoretical and practical concepts of software engineering. The professors in Maynooth are highly qualified, friendly and helpful. You can visit them personally to clarify any of your doubts.

Every module is well structured and includes a project and internal assessment which are part of your final scores.

One of the key features of this course is that you have to work as an intern in the IT industry to experience how an IT organisation works.

The placement office in the Department of Computer Science helps you right from preparing your CV  to getting an offer letter. They have good contacts with big IT organisations like Intel, Accenture, Oracle, IBM, Ericsson and so on.

Also, they give individual attention to every student instead of just a general approach. Thanks to the University, I am currently interning in Oracle.

All in all, it has been great journey here. I learnt a lot in terms of studies and this town also changed me as a person. I am more positive, friendly and open now.
