8 militants killed in US drone attacks in Pak tribal area
At least eight militants have been killed in US drone attacks in Pakistan's troubled North Waziristan tribal region, a Taliban stronghold which has witnessed frequent strikes by American pilotless planes in the past few weeks.
A missile fired by a drone struck a vehicle near Navana village in Mirali sub-division this morning, killing three militants. The identity of the dead militants is yet to be ascertained.
The attack came hours after a similar strike in Mirali, officials of the local political administration said.
Five militants were killed last night when a drone fired two missiles at a compound at Machikhel village in Mirali.
North Waziristan has witnessed several drone attacks in recent weeks, including a coordinated strike that was carried out by at least five pilotless planes.
