Cops told to file charge sheet after DA raids

Last Updated 21 November 2014, 18:39 IST

Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao has directed the Lokayukta police to file charge sheets under section 432 of the CrPC after they raid officials for having unaccounted-for wealth.

Filing a charge sheet will help the government seize the property if allegations are proved against the person, Rao said, adding that in pending cases, a fresh charge sheet could be filed.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a public hearing in Mangaluru on Friday. The Lokayukta has started the process of appointing senior High Court advocates to argue its cases in the court. Even in district courts, senior advocates are being appointed to represent the Lokayukta, he added.

Besides, a Lokayukta Special Investigating Team had sought the set up of a special court in Bengaluru to probe into the Bellari illegal mining issue. The government has also written to the apex court in this regard.

The High Court has directed that an FIR be filed in Lokayukta courts until special courts are set up, he said.  At the public grievances meet, the Lokayukta received 72 complaints.
