AIDS: Need for more focus on groups at risk

The District AIDS Prevention Control Committee (DAPCU) reviewed various activities for awareness and control of HIV-TB programme in Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital on Friday. The District Programme Manager presented the district’s six months performance at the event.

There should be more efforts to conduct tests among the High Risk Groups (HRG), said a senior official. NGOs can also play a key role in scaling up HIV testing camps among the HRG and ensure their participation, the District Magistrate (East) said. The Delhi State AIDS Control Society (DSACS) will provide the manpower and other resources through DAPCU.

The DM also stressed on involvement of other departments such as Social Welfare, Family & Community Services, Revenue and even the banks to give easy access to the HRGs.
