BDA to allot 947 flats by lottery tomorrow

Last Updated 25 November 2014, 20:59 IST

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will allot 947 one-bedroom flats to applicants by lottery on Thursday. Applicants will be allotted flats based on the number of attempts they have made. The flats are in Alur, Doddabanahalli, Gunjur, Kaniminike, Malagala, Thippasandra and Valegerahalli localities.

The BDA Commissioner, T Sham Bhatt, promised that this allotment would be different from the previous ones. “The last time we did not give preference to those who had applied repeatedly because it was the first lottery. But this time, we will give preference to those who have made many attempts,” he told Deccan Herald.

The BDA had invited applications for one-, two- and three-bedroom flats in February 2014. While it received a large number of applications for flats in all localities, there were fewer applications for apartments in Kaniminike, Alur and Gunjur. The reason, according to a BDA official, is that approach roads are poor and people are not happy with these areas.

In case of Alur, the BDA is offering 400 flats but received a mere 171 applications. For Gunjur, there were 189 applications for 238 flats. At Valegerahalli, the BDA received 292 applications for just 48 flats.

For Thippasandra, there were 131 applications for 84 flats. For Malagala, the number of applications stood at 210 for 88 flats. In Doddabanahalli, there were 61 flats on offer but just 41 applications. For Kaniminike, the BDA has received 60 applications for 304 flats.
Each flat is spread across 938 square feet and the allottee will have to pay no extra charges, but just the cost of the flat, that includes the cost of building, construction, land, and one-year maintenance charges.

The cost of the project has remained unchanged. Allottees will not have to pay anything during the lottery process. But they should deposit 25 per cent of the flat cost within first two months of allotment, 25 per cent after two more months and the rest in the same way (after gaps of two months).

In case of Malagala, the general allottees will have to pay Rs 12 lakh, the economically weaker section (EWS) allottees Rs nine lakh and the SC/ST buyers Rs 6.75 lakh.
In case of Valegerahalli, the general category allottees will have to pay Rs 13 lakh, the EWS Rs 9.75 lakh and the SC/ST Rs 7.3 lakh. In case of Doddabanahalli, the general category allottees will have to pay Rs 12 lakh, the EWS Rs nine lakh and the SC/ST Rs 6.75 lakh. In Kaniminike, those applying in general category will have to pay Rs 10 lakh, the EWS Rs 7.5 lakh and the SC/ST Rs 5.7 lakh.

In Thippasandra and Gunjur, those applying for flats under general category will have to pay Rs 12 lakh, the EWS Rs nine lakh and the SC/ST Rs 6.75 lakh.
