Expelled senior Congress leader and former Union Minister G K Vasan, who has proposed to launch a new political outfit in Tamil Nadu in a couple of days, unveiled his new tri-coloured party flag bearing the images of Congress stalwart Kamaraj and his father G K Moopanar.

After quitting the Congress, Vasan disclosed that he would announce his party on November 28 at a public meeting to be held at Trichy district .

Stating that the party’s name has been properly registered with the Election Commission of India, he claimed that the formation of this party is to bring about a better Tamil Nadu.
Vasan’s move was seen as a repetition of his father’s action, who floated the TMC after quitting the Congress in protest against the AICC decision to ally with the Jayalalitha-led AIADMK in 1996.

Speaking to mediapersons, after unveiling his party's flag in the presence of senior leaders and scores of supporters, he said, “there is no question of aligning with the BJP, since their ideologies and principles were totally different from that of ours”.

Asked whether his party would ally with either the ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK, he said, “Just now we are going to start our party. Our first aim is to reach out to the people across the State”.

Vasan said a decision will on the alliance will be taken only at the time of election time.
