Corporator Lalitha is dead

Girinagar ward BJP Corporator H S Lalitha, who was battling for life after making an attempt to kill herself by consuming poison, succumbed at Sagar Apollo Hospital in Padmanabhanagar on Wednesday.

She was being treated at the hospital for about 45 days after her attempt to end life.

MLA Ravi Subramanya and Mayor N Shanthakumari were among those who paid their last respects to her. Cremation will take place on Thursday after a post-mortem at KIMS, said sources. Lalitha gained notoriety after the Upparpet police arrested her for shoplifting at Ashok Apparels, located in the basement of Sukh Sagar Mall in Gandhinagar, on April 22, 2014. Lalitha was reportedly suffering from kleptomania and was under depression since then.
