Two men who entered a foreign exchange centre on 10th Main Road in Hanumanthanagar posing as customers attacked the manager and decamped with Rs 40,000 cash and some foreign currency, on Saturday.

Ratan Das, 63, is the victim. When the miscreants entered the centre, Das asked them to wait as he was attending to a woman customer.

After the woman left, the duo attacked Das and fled with the booty. Das tried to held on to them but in vain. By the time, the neighbouring shopkeepers, rushed to Das’ help, the miscreants had fled the spot.

Das was rushed to a nearby hospital and is out of danger. Though there were CCTV cameras installed in the shop, they were not working for the last one week. Das was alone at the centre when the incident took place.

Police suspect that some known people have committed the crime. They are now examining CCTV footage from the neighbouring buildings.

Murder case cracked

The Girinagar police have cracked a recent double murder case by arresting three persons. Narasimha Reddy, Hanuma and Satish, all residents of Ittamadu, are the arrested.

Brothers Hemanth, 24, and Shivu, were murdered on November 23 allegedly over some personal rivalry. The brothers had hatched a conspiracy to kill Narasimha Reddy. But the plan was leaked out and Reddy roped in his friends Hanuma and Satish to kill the brothers, said the police.

Reddy, along with his associates, attacked the brothers with weapons and dumped Hemanth’s body in a drainage near Hosakerehalli. Shivu’s body was buried in a deserted area in the same locality, added the police.

After a couple of days, Hemanth’s body was found. At around the same time, a missing person’s complaint was lodged in Girinagar police station. The police connected the dots and questioned Nagarathna, a friend of Reddy, who spilt the beans. The police are still questioning the accused.
