Aam neta flies khaas class to Dubai, trends on Twitter

The AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s ‘aam aadmi’ image suffered a blow after pictures of him travelling business class to Dubai started to trend on social media on Thursday.

He is going to address the Abu Dhabi chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

BJP and Congress questioned what happened to his image of ‘aam aadmi’. But the Aam Aadmi Party responded to criticism saying that the AAP convenor was invited to fly business class to Dubai.

“He is not travelling on party’s expenses. The ticket for his entire tour has been arranged by his IIT batchmates and organisers,” an AAP leader said.
Not convinced by the AAP’s explanation, Delhi BJP general secretary said that his party’s electoral campaign will target the “double standards and double talks” of the former chief minister.

Earlier the political rivals alleged that the Kejiwal’s trip is also aimed at raising fund for the party’s poll campaign. The party, however, rubbished the allegations while claiming that no fund event has been planned for Dubai and New York.

“No official fund raising event has been organised by the party during Kejriwal’s trip of the US (and Dubai). However, the NRIs, willing to become a part of the transparent donations for the AAP are welcome to contribute in accordance with party’s norms displayed on the website,” the party said in a statement.

The AAP chief has left for a five-day trip of Dubai and New York on Thursday afternoon.

The party said that he will be felicitated at the World Brands Summit in Dubai on Saturday. A day later, he is set to deliver a speech at the Columbia University.
He has also been invited to speak at the School of International and Public Affairs. This programme is among his important engagements during the packed schedule at New York.
