Stage set to celebrate Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014

Burning issues like ban on Kambala, Yettinahole project will be discussed during the festival, says Heggade 

Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014 Honourary President Dr D Veerendra Heggade has said that relevant issues like adding Tulu to eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution, Yetthinahole project and ban on Kambala will be discussed in Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014 which will be organised by Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkuta and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy at Sahyadri College, Adyar in Mangaluru from December 12 to 14. 

Addressing a press conference in the college on Friday, he said that the coastal districts have rich culture and always ahead in education field with seven medical and 22 engineering colleges.

“Though we are facing some challenges, they can be solved while we stand unite irrespective of caste or community. We may be Muslims or Christians, but our language of communication is Tulu. So, this event is a great forum to discuss and solve our problems,” he said. 

There are sessions which would provide opportunity to discuss on Kambala ban or Yetthinahole project. 

The people of two districts have showed great unity in opposing the ban on Kambala during a protest in Mangaluru, recently. In Nethravathi river, water-level has been decreased already and the project would definitely affect people of Tulunadu. 

“Around one lakh people have been expected to visit the location during the three-day event which will be held at the Nethravathi river bank. Variety of programmes have been organised from morning till evening, on all three days. Exhibition of Tulu traditional attires, ‘Atil Aragane,’ sports events and photo exhibitions, book expo and art expo will definitely attract the onlookers. Media should act like mediator for the mass,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said that there will be no procession on the day of inauguration as the organised committee has opined that the procession would cost around Rs 25 lakh and there is lack of space in the venue. 

District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said that the State government has released Rs 50 lakh for the event and Mangalore City Corporation has released Rs 10 lakh. Meanwhile, he said that the people have unanimous opinion to lift ban against Kambala. A meeting has been convened on the issue at the Deputy Commissioner’s office already, he said. 

Tuluvere Parba programmes 

Vishwa Tuluvere Parba 2014 will be inaugurated by Udupi Pejavara Sri Vishweshatheertha Swamiji at S U Paniyaadi stage on December 12, at 5 pm. Dr D Veerendra Heggade will preside over the function. Tirupati Sri Venkataramana Temple Chief Priest Ramana Deekshit will bless the gathering.

Former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, former union minister Oscar Fernandes, District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai, former minister B A Moideen, entrepreneur Dr P Dayananda Pai and Dr Manjunath Bhandary will be the chief guests.

Health Minister U T Khader, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Youth Welfare, Sports and Fisheries Minister K Abhaychandra Jain and others will be guests. ‘Tulu Cinema Pada Rangita,’ a presentation of Tulu film songs and remembering artists, directors and producers, from 7 pm to 9 pm. 

On December 13, Mangaluru diocese Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will inaugurate ‘Tuluvere Isiri’ competition, at 8.30 am. ‘Bale Telipaale’ will inaugurated at 1 pm. ‘Koota Kala- Tammana Balmana’ will be inaugurated at 5 pm. Karnataka Bank General Manager P Jayaram Bhat, Nitte University Chancellor Dr M Shantharam Shetty and others will be guests. It will be followed by ‘Tulu Rang-rangita’ and ‘Tulu Yakshagana Vaibhava’. 

In the valedictory on December 14, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will participate as chief guest, while Dr D Veerendra Heggade will preside over the function. District-in-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai will deliver the keynote address. Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Kannada and Culture Department Minister Umashri, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP Shobha Karandlaje, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva and others will be the chief guests.

‘Paddhana Mela’ (6 pm), ‘Tuluvere Vishwaroopa’ (7 pm) will follow the formal function. 

‘Sahyadri Tuluvere Isiri’, an intercollegiate cultural competition will be organised on December 11 and 12. Sri Shasthavu Bhothanatheshwara Trust will organise ‘Kreedotsava 2014’, at Sahyadri College on December 13 and 14. 

Welcome Committee Honourary President Adyar Mahabala Shetty, Akhila Bharatha Tulukoota Honourary President B Damodara Nisarga, Chief Convenor A C Bhandary, Finance Committee President M B Puranik, Welcome Committee President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Convenor Navaneeth Shetty Kadri among others were present.
