All the primary health centres in the State will conduct free diabetes and blood pressure check-up for patients  once in six months. The hospitals  should work towards providing healthcare that was preventive rather than focusing on curing people of diseases, said Minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khader.

Speaking at  international conference on Yoga and Naturopathy held as a part of silver jubilee celebrations of SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences in Ujire on Friday, he said that modern life style, work pressure and change in food habits have taken a toll on the health of people. It is a tragedy that even small kids suffer from non communicable diseases. The state government will initiate measures to popularise Yoga and Naturopathy through AYUSH department in Karnataka.

Speaking after releasing souvenir ‘rajatha sambhrama,’  MP Oscar Fernandes said that Yoga helps in maintaining good health. One should eat Brahmi leaves to increase the memory power.

Chitrakala Parishat President B L Shankar said that yoga helps to control mind and emotions.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said that there is need to conduct research in the field of Yoga and Naturopathy. The naturopathy is not meant for rich alone. Even  common man should make use of the benefits of naturopathy.

The valedictory of the conference will be held on Sunday and will be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
