I don’t think Bollywood is more challenging than life,” says singer Neha Kakkar who made her debut in Bollywood in 2008. Kakkar may seem young and timid but what she has achieved in such a short time is admirable.

Responding to a question if she had planned to be what she is today, Kakkar says, “I concentrated only on one thing. I always knew I had to become a singer. And I never deviated from my aspiration. I couldn’t imagine becoming anything else.”
The star says she has “worked so hard” and has believed in hard work and power of being positive. “If you are passionate and believe in your passion nothing can stop you from getting what you want. If one has too many choices, one tends to get confused and the hard work becomes futile,” she says.

The Second Hand Jawani singer does a lot of shows in a month. Still, in the midst of flights from one city to another, she practises her songs.

She started with Mata ki Chowki and Jagran at the age of four. A competitor in the popular show Indian Idol, the star saw her career emerging in Bollywood after the competition. The current hit topping all the blockbuster hits is Manali Trance, which is just another one of the hits which this 26-year-old has given this year.

If one goes back, people would remember Hanju, Sunny Sunny, London Thumakda, Party Shoes which also trended the 2014 charts.

Kakkar started the culture of ‘selfie videos’ out which the most memorable was the SRK anthem, which got her more than six lakh reviews. She is now called a selfie queen. “I think that too is a big compliment because I conceptualised the whole thing, it was a first of its kind. It also went viral on WhatsApp and YouTube,” says the singer.

“I had no godfather, I did everything myself, I wanted my music to be heard and that is why I made those selfie videos. It was an encouragement to see that people like me,” she adds.

When asked how was has her journey been till now, she adds, “My life has actually turned out to be exactly as I had imagined and I feel I am lucky. I am doing live shows all over the world today.

But my dream is playback singing and I am thankful to have found my place in Bollywood.”Kakkar provides a peep into her future prospects which includes singles like Johnny Dafa Ho and Akhiyaan with Bohemia. We will also hear the star sing in Leela, Mastizade, One Night Stand, and also one with Yo Yo Honey Singh.

When asked if she has a message for the growing league of her fans, Kakkar said, “I am a very emotional person and I genuinely love my fans. Sometimes I start crying when I read their comments on my Facebook page or anywhere. I want them to always love me, their love has spoilt me now, I don’t think I’ll be able to live without it.”
