With winter finally making its presence felt in the city, we can actually get down to the serious business of enjoying the December chill and the added pleasures of the season– steaming cups of tea and coffee, warm blankets and a never ending variety of winter snacks!

This is the perfect time to gorge on snacks without bothering too much about the calories. With the approaching Christmas festivities, people are getting attracted by the aromatic baked delicacies throughout the city. The Capital is gearing up for Christmas and therefore hot muffins, cookies, and brownies are fast diminishing from the counters of well-known confectionaries around the city. Metrolife asked some of the foodies in Delhi what is the favourite snack/food they are feeding on; Here is what they said:

“Winters are the time when you get have unlimited cups of ginger tea along with awesome home cooked mirchi pakodas.Since it’s Christmas bliss everywhere, I like having choco lava cakes and cookies. Other than that, hot aloo chat with mint chutney, our traditional matthis and aloo samosa are always delicious must-haves in winters” says Lavanya, a self-confessed foodie.

Delhi being a popular food place has a great palate for traditional food items of which people never get bored of. “For me Delhi is the perfect place to enjoy winter snacks like ram laddoo and gajar ka halwa. All you need in this chilling weather is a cup of ilaichi-adrak tea and pakodas to soothe your taste buds. Moreover, for hardcore foodies like me, food is the best companion when it comes to enjoying winters” says Deeksha Sareen, a student of Asian College of Journalism.
The bakery items are an all time favourite of the people in winters, but other delicacies from across the country are also being favoured. And these include steaming plate of momos and thukpa which is a Tibetan noodle soup. Tibetan cuisine is slowly finding its place in the hearts and tastebuds of Delhiites.
As nuts are rich in energy, protein, packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and much discussed Omega-3 fatty acids, therefore they are specially preferred as a side snack while chit-chatting around or munch on whenever and wherever in winters.

“The age old traditional sweet gajak and rewari are my favourite because of the sweet and yummy taste. I have been eating it since childhood and have really great memories of winters with it,” says Mansi, a student.
