Mamata not allowed to meet President

With President Pranab Mukherjee still under observation at an Army hospital where he is recovering after coronary angioplasty, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee could not get permission to meet him.

Mamata was told by Rashtrapati Bhavan officials that no decision has been taken on his discharge from hospital and she could not meet him at this stage, official sources said.
“If I am not allowed to see him, I will leave flowers at the hospital,” she told reporters on her arrival in the national capital on Wednesday evening.

Sources close to Mamata said she was upset that she was not being allowed to call on Mukherjee at the Army Research and Referral Hospital when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited him a day earlier. “I will also be going to the Central Hall of Parliament to meet my friends and party MPs,” added Banerjee.

Mamata did not disclose whether she would join any demonstration by her party MPs in Parliament House. But she said the Trinamool Congress would continue to protest in Parliament over the government’s “political vendetta” against the party in connection with the Saradha scam.
