Safety tools expo begins

The two-day Safety Tools Exhibition organised by the City police began at Orion Mall on Friday.

The priority of the exhibition is to make the public aware about various security and safety equipment available in the market “This is a platform provided to the companies for help the public to know more about safety gadgets and apps,” said Abhishek Goyal, DCP, Crime.

The exhibition has 28 stalls displaying various equipment like a watch which can be worn by school students and the parents can feed a data into the watch about a particular area in which the child will be.

The moment the child steps out of the area, an SMS alert is sent to the parents’ mobile phones and also the noises from the surrounding where the child is can be heard. This will indicate whether the child is in danger. This watch costs somewhere around Rs 5,000 apart from the charges for the SIM.

The other interesting gadget was My Safe Bus, which can be installed in the school buses and vans. This device is fitted with a camera and it can click pictures at an interval of every 30 seconds and send the real-time images to the mobile phones which has the application installed.

It is also GPS-enabled and informs the parents about the location of the bus and the route the vehicle is taking. This can also be used in the cabs and the operators can monitor their vehicles from their office. This gadgets was most sought in the backdrop of several crimes against the school kids.

The other safety gadgets on display were: vehicle-trackers and multi-sensor communication devices which detect human presence, movement or breaking-into houses or buildings. The exhibition was inaugurated by actor Ragini Dwivedi.
