BBMP issues attachment notice to Sobha Developers

 Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has served notice on Sobha Developers warning it of attaching its properties for not depositing development charges of Rs 1.94
crore for their Peenya residential apartment project at Nagasandra.

Although the notice was served on December 6 with the instruction to pay development charges within three days, sources in the BBMP said the developer had not yet deposited the money.

Khatas have not been created for the apartments due to non-payment of development charges.

The project has five apartment blocks — Sobha Ruby, Sobha Platinum, Sobha Aspire, Sobha Elite and Sobha Garrison comprising 1,108 dwellings.

The Palike has so far served three notices on Sobha in this connection. The first was served on n March 3, 2013, the second on January 28, this year and The last and final notice on December 6.

Development charges

The notice says that the builder had asked the BBMP to collect development charges from apartment owners since all the apartments had been sold out and the (builder) was no more the owner of the property.

When contacted, Sobha Developers Vice President Abhinav Kanchan said that they had requested the BBMP for bifurcating the khata over the number of apartments. He said that betterment charges would be paid for each khata after bifurcation
