BMTC launches mobile app to plan trips

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) finally launched its mobile application (App) on Monday. Commuters can now plan their trips or find bus routes with the app.

The app, available on android phones, will provide information on service availability, time, travel distance, travel time, service type, fare, route information, bus stop information for the given source and destination.

At present, the app will only provide static information and not real-time information. BMTC officials say that once the intelligent transport system (ITS) is launched, the app will be updated and it will give real-time information about bus arrival timings, departure etc.  Sources said that this might take another two to three month.

New bus services
Meanwhile, to ease passenger rush in Whitefield area, the BMTC has also launched new Chakra services in and around Whitefield. The services have been introduced after requests from local residents.

These chakra services will be midi buses which are smaller than regular BMTC buses and will operate clockwise and anticlockwise in Whitefield. The following are the new services:

Chakra-8: Whitefield TTMC-BigBazaar-ITPL-Hopeform-Whitefield Post Office-Varthuru Kodi-Siddapura-Kundalhalli Gate-Graphite India- Whitefield TTMC.

Chakra-8A: Whitefield TTMC-Graphite India-Kundalhalli Gate-Siddapura-Varthuru Kodi-Whitefield Post Office-Hopeform-ITPL-BigBazaar- Whitefield TTMC.

Chakra-9: Whitefield TTMC-Nallurahalli-Whitefield Post Office-Varthuru Kodi-Whitefield Post Office-Nallurahalli-Whitefield Post Office- Graphite India-Hoodi-BigBazaar- Whitefield TTMC
Chakra-9A: Whitefield TTMC- Big Bazaar-Hoodi-Graphite India-Whitefield Post Office-Nallurahalli-Whitefield Post Office-Varthuru Kodi-Whitefield Post Office-Nallurahalli- Whitefield TTMC.
