'I want to be remembered'

STRONG PORTRAYAL

Actress Parul Yadav is set to begin the new year on a high note with her new film ‘Vaastu Prakaara’, slated for release soon. Parul, who was earlier noticed and admired for her rather loud but pleasing performance in ‘Shivajinagara’, thinks the character in ‘Vaastu Prakaara’ was conceptualised just for her.

“I play the role of a lawyer who also happens to be a feminist. She not only fights for the rights of women but also protests against the atrocities against women,” explains Parul.

She further describes her character as strong-headed, intelligent and shrewd. “The film has given a lot of importance to women and has raised some important issues related to women in any progressive society,” she adds.

Parul is pitched opposite senior actor Jaggesh and Rakshith. “There are scenes in the film where I am supposed to shout and scream at Jaggesh and I am also required to manhandle them. I was very conscious when I had to do this scene because Jaggesh is a very senior actor and I have a lot of respect for him,” she states.

“But Jaggesh gave me a lot of confidence to do well and that support really helped,” she says.

She describes the experience of shooting for ‘Vaastu Prakaara’ and working with director Yogaraj Bhat as “a rewarding experience”. “My character had so much fighting and screaming to do that Yogaraj couldn’t help but tell me that people would either love the character or totally hate it. Such was the impact,” she shares.

Parul also essays a prominent role in Upendra’s directorial  ‘Uppi 2.’ “I play a Brahmin girl but it’s a two-shaded character. I can’t reveal too much about the film but it’s been quite exhausting to portray both the characters in a strong way,” she says.

What’s also exciting is Parul’s solo song in another project titled ‘Aatagara’.  She may have many releases in a year but Parul is not complaining. “I am finicky when it comes to projects. I want to work in one film and be remembered for my performance,” she signs off.
