From the time he was in the tenth standard, Vicky Rocky always dreamt of acing in basketball.

With hard-work and determination, he turned this dream of his into reality and looking back, he says that it has been an exhausting yet fulfilling journey.

A lanky athlete and sprinter, he always dreamt of playing basketball. Though his PU college had no grounds or any other facilities connected to sports, that didn’t deter his passion.

Since his father was in the Army, he would accompany him to the Army Grounds everyday. Gradually, he began practising with his dad’s friends. He would practise rigorously everyday and put in three or four hours during the weekends.
Today, he is the captain of the basketball team of CMR Institute of Management Studies.
“I love basketball as it keeps me fit and energetic throughout the day. It’s refreshing, and the joy of shooting from the half court is unparalleled. It’s a sport like no other.”

Though he is in his last year of Computer Applications at CMR, he believes that basketball is something he will always pursue.  “I only want to play basketball in future. I am very clear about my dream,” he adds firmly.

He has won many inter and intra-college tournaments with his team. As someone who doesn’t shirk away from his responsibilities, he makes sure that he gives his best to the game and his friends also put in the maximum amount of effort and concentration they can.

His fondest memory os of the ‘NBA Jam’ at Kanteerva Stadium and CMRIT where he won with a score of three on three. His performance was so good that he was recognised individually.

“My tip to budding basketball players is that they should be alert while passing the ball. The main point to be kept in mind while playing is to be attentive. If you aren’t paying enough attention, the game can change in seconds.” A middle rebound player, he says that he has no dreams of becoming a coach someday. He only wants to keep playing all his life.

“I don’t dream about becoming a coach in future. I plan to write a couple of exams after BCA and get into the Army through sports quota. I will play as much as I can over there.”
His inspirations are the legendary Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He advises young basketball players to work hard and says that nothing is impossible if one puts his or her mind to it.
