The Kamakshipalya police recently arrested two gangs in connection with robbery cases and recovered valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from them.
The arrested are Ramesh, Deepu, Mallesh and Chandan Singh. On January 15, they had barged into a photocopy shop near Kamakshipalya and extorted money from him. Initially, the owner of the shop refused to give the money. But the accused stabbed him with a knife and made away with the money. They also forcibly took away six mobile phones from customers at the shop.
The police also arrested another gang which had threatened a businessman and robbed him of his gold bracelet, two gold rings and cash. On December 21 at 2 am, he was returning from Mysuru, when the gang waylaid him on West of Chord Road and robbed him, the police said. On January 22, based on a tip-off, the gang was arrested.
