Although most invitees including Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the two Bangalore In-charge Ministers were absent, the festival launch elicited a massive response from schoolchildren.

In a relaxed atmosphere with children getting their day off from school, the film festival was inaugurated by actor Srinath. As many as 79 movies are scheduled to be screened over the span of six days in Bangalore. The movies will be screened across three theatres in the City.

The Childrens India organisation that is spearheading the festival, has also arranged special screening sessions at the Movieland theatre concentrating on Chinese movies. “The movies will showcase the best of children’s movies from China, under the “China Focus” special screening sessions,” announced Nanjunde Gowda from the organisation. Gowda hoped the Government’s support over the last five years would continue in the future as well.

“This year, we did have a glitch while planning for our screenings. With the installation of a Karnataka Film Academy, there is no clear picture as to who will be responsible for our financial support system in the future. I hope the matter is brought to the notice of the decision makers in the State,” he said.
