A man has been accused of killing his wife by strangling her with a piece of cloth in Panduranga Nagar, which falls under the JP Nagar police jurisdiction.
The accused, Amar Singh, 27, allegedly murdered his wife Lathik, 24 last night. The couple were the residents of Panduranga Nagar on Bannerghatta Road in JP Nagar.
The suspect in the murder case is on the run and a manhunt has been launched for him, said police.
The husband-wife duo hails from North India and had came to Bengaluru to eke out a living.
In order to rent a house in Pandurangar, Amar Singh had to provide photo identity cards of both of them as demanded by his landlord, which made Lathika unhappy.
She was not happy about her husband giving her identity card to their landlord. And she continued to fight with him often over the issue, added the police.
When Lathika started a fight with the accused on Monday night, Amar Singh lost his cool, dragged a piece of cloth and strangulated her to the death before fleeing from the house. It is not clear whether the accused was drunk at the time of murder, said the police
