Bedi takes to stage after Modi's departure

Kiran Bedi is not leaving her chief ministerial ambitions merely to road shows and political speeches by BJP’s top leaders.

On Wednesday, she saw off the Prime Minister after his speech and immediately returned to an empty stage to woo  voters.

She continuously waved at them, flashed the victory sign and even blew kisses on a couple of occasions.

All this went on for a good five minutes as most of the crowd stayed behind and responded favourably.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made only a brief mention of Kiran Bedi during his over 30 minute-long speech at Virat Cinema Ground in Ambedkar Nagar.

Bedi had kept herself visible during that period by intermittently flashing the victory sign.

But everyone’s attention was drawn towards the stage by loud cheers, moments after Modi left.

Kiran Bedi had returned and was enacting the lyrics of the song ‘Main desh nahi jhukne doonga’, BJP’s official anthem for 2014 elections that was playing out loud.
But the enactment was limited to occasions when Modi’s voice was heard in the song.

She then walked from one end of the stage to the other several times, continuously pointing to herself and flashing the victory sign with her hands.

Soon, some other leaders returned to the stage and joined Bedi. On one occasion, the former police officer stood on her toes and waved in an eager bid to stand out from the rest.

One BJP leader stood in front of the podium and chanted the slogan, “Desh mein Modi, Dilli mein Bedi”.

He then repeated the first half of the slogan several times, waiting for the crowd to complete the rest.

Nandini Sharma, BJP’s Malviya Nagar candidate, had initially joined Bedi in the reappearance on the stage, but then moved away from her while talking to some party worker. Bedi pulled her back.

Sharma then held Bedi by her waist as they together waved to the crowd.
