A childless couple in Uttar Pradesh have willed away a large fortune to their pet monkey of ten years, making it the “millionaire” animal in Raebareli town.

Brijesh Srivastava and his wife, Sabista, have set up a trust for Chunmun to ensure the monkey is cared for after their death. “Chunmun is very close to us. We love it very much,” Sabista, a Muslim who married her Hindu husband Brijesh 17 years ago, said.  The couple’s love for the monkey is evident from a glance at their house in Shakti Nagar locality of Raebareli. It is full of comforts for the animal and the house is named after Chunmun.
According to reports, the couple owned a flourishing business, about an acre of land and the house worth Rs 70 lakh. Sabista said she adopted Chunmun 10 years ago after its mother had fallen off the roof and was injured. “Since then it has been living with us,” she said. The monkey’s room, which is nothing more than a made-up cage, has air-condition for summer and heating system for the winter. They even got Chunmun married a few years back and host a feast for monkeys on its wedding anniversary each year. “We provide a lavish lunch for the monkeys on that day,” Sabista said, adding her fortunes changed for the better after Chunmun’s arrival.
