Govt running a real estate business: RVD

He told mediapersons on Sunday that the Congress party would soon launch a State-wide agitation against the practice of acquiring farmers’ land.

“I was the Minister for Industries when the government headed by H D Deve Gowda entered into an agreement with the NICE. We are not against the NICE project, but we oppose the acquisition of fertile land,” he clarified.

Barren land in Bijapur and Bagalkot districts should be used for setting up industries. Bangalore Urban Development Authority was allotting sites only to the rich people. B S Yeddyurappa was a weak chief minister and he is not confident of his Cabinet ministers, criticised Deshpande.

So far, no talks have been held with the JD(S) regarding the BBMP elections and the Congress has made preparations to contest the polls independently, he added.
