JOIN USA day after Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi ordered police investigation into the advertisement mafia in BBMP, Assistant Commissioner, Advertisement, has issued show cause notice to more than 70 Assistant Revenue Officers (ARO) in the City asking them to submit the tax and penalty collected so far.
A senior official said that the Joint Commissioners of eight zones are not co-operating with the efforts to streamline the advertisement policy in BBMP. “The Assistant Commissioner submitted that show cause notice has been issued to AROs.
The police investigation will throw more light on both the missing of thousands of files pertaining to advertisement licences and also non-recovery of tax and penalty,” Justice Adi said. Upa Lokayukta had come down heavily upon the BBMP’s laxity in streamlining advertisements in the City.
