Last Updated 03 March 2015, 02:13 IST

Intermittent rain lashing the city for the second consecutive day played a spoilsport for hundreds of students taking the board exams, who faced a hard time reaching their examination centres on Monday.

The boards have commenced on Monday for both class 10 and 12; the examinations will continue till March 26 for class 10 students and April 20 for class 12 ones.

Students complained that they got a bit late for the exam due to heavy shower in morning. “There were huge traffic snarls on the main intersections due to rain. It took us more time than usual to reach schools,” said Sunita Kaul, a class 10 student.

Some of them said they did not get time for last-minute revision. “I couldn’t answer a question as I didn’t get time to do revision because we just managed to reach on time for the examination,” said Suraj Singh, a class 12 student.

Over four lakh students each are appearing in class 10 and 12 examinations this academic session. Of them 1,137 students are eligible for class 10 boards under special categories like visually impaired and physically handicapped. There are a total of 1,018 such students taking class 12 examinations this time.

Admit cards for regular students appearing in 2015 examinations have been also made available online. “The value based questions in all major subjects for classes 10 and 12 ranging from three to five marks will be included in the examinations. These questions will be analysed on the basis of the values they reflect,” the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said.

Sample questions based on values in subjects like English (Elective), English (Core), English (Functional), Hindi (Elective), Hindi (Core), Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Accountancy, History, Geography, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and Economics for class 12 are available on the CBSE website, it added.

Also, sample questionnaire for Hindi (A), Hindi (B), English (Communicative), English (Language and Literature), Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences for class 10 exams are available on the website.
