The renovated Chikkamagaluru Golf Course, located at the Karadihalli Kaval here, is all set for its inauguration here on Saturday.

The old 9-hole course is now revamped to an 18-hole course and will be unveiled by former India cricketers Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble.

Addressing a press conference here, Chikkamagaluru Golf Club (CGC) founder-president A B Sudarshan said the course has good infrastructure and facilities, fit to conduct national-level tournaments.

“We wish to conduct more national level tournaments and promise that the golf course will remain eco-friendly in the years to come,” he said.

He also said the club would organise all India tournaments if it received clearance from the Indian Golf Union. “We also wish to invite school children interested in golf and provide them coaching, which will help us identify emerging talents,” he said.

CGC Committee member Gopalakrishna said: “Earlier, players had to go to Bengaluru for tournaments and training. And only a few could afford that. But now it is possible for many interested youngsters to exploit their talent.”

Brigade Cup tourney
The inaugural ceremony on Saturday will be followed by a two-day tournament for the Brigade Cup. Over 250 participants, from Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hubballi, Mangaluru and Kodagu are expected to take part.
