A dose of good health

The protein dosa or diet dosa, as we call it, caught my attention a few years ago. I was looking for some dishes that would fit into my diet regime and when I heard about protein dosa, I went online and gathered information about it. I added my own ingredients while making it to enhance the protein-content.

The show business requires actors to look good, stay fit and energetic at all times and diet plays an important part. I not only took to protein dosa very well but I introduced the same to my family and friends. And they have all made this a part of their routine.

The first step to making protein dosa is to find the right blend of grams. The next procedure is to soak all the grams along with the ingredients of the regular dosa for eight hours, later grind it together and make it like how you make your regular dosa.

But it’s the grams that you throw in, which make this dosa different. I usually add a handful of white beans and green grams.

White beans ensure that there is enough carbohydrate and almost all the ingredients are high on energy and low on fat.

The dosa can be eaten by itself or with a chilli-based chutney. I usually have this with curd because I think it’s the best combination.

This also serves as a perfect snack during a rainy day. I add a lot of additional stuff to spice up the taste. I don’t add oil for myself but for the others at home, I generously add a dose of ghee. My husband Gautham too enjoys this for breakfast almost everyday.

I understand this is really good for strengthening the bones and smoothening the skin.
This is what I call guilt-free indulgence and I consume it every morning. A lot of actors take supplement tablets to ensure they are high on energy and low on fat but I would vouch that this dish gives me a lot of energy and doesn’t leave me feeling lethargic or heavy in any way.
Once actresses cross 30 years of age, I think they must start watching their diet  not only to look good but also to stay healthy.

Even if I don’t workout, I don’t feel tired thanks to the dosa which I eat everyday. Lot of people ask me whether I get bored of consuming the same thing but I experiment with the ingredients to make sure the taste is different each time.
