K’taka Ratna for Heggade, De Ja Gow
The State Government has selected litterateur De Javaregowda and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade for Karnataka Ratna title for the years 2008 and 2009 respectively.
Karnataka Ratna is the highest civilian honour of the state. The committee headed by justice V S Malimath selected the awardees.
Javaregowda is a well known name in the field of literature. He has translated works of Tolstoy into Kannada and penned many works in Kannada. He served as vice-chancellor of Mysore University and was instrumental in setting up department of folk sstudies.

dra Heggade as head of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education Institutes has been providing quality education to thousands of children across the state. He also launched a chain of rural development schemes. The government has not announced the date for conferring the title.
