Woman robbed of Rs 4.5 lakh

Two men robbed a woman of her bag containing Rs 4.5 lakh on Thursday afternoon in Tilaknagar police limits. The incident took place on 26th Cross in Jayanagar when the victim, Annamma, 45, a resident of Corporation Colony, Jayanagar, was returning home.

She withdrew Rs 4.5 lakh from State Bank of Mysore at 11.30 pm and kept the money in the bag and proceeded to her house. The duo followed her on a bike, snatched the bag when she approached 26th Cross.  She raised an alarm, but they vanished when a few local residents rushed to her rescue.

It is not known why Annamma withdrew so much money from the bank.
Betting racket busted

The CCB sleuths busted an inter-state betting racket in Ashok Nagar on Thursday by arresting three people.

Hemanth Kumar Jain, Mukesh Kumar Jain and Jithendra Jain are the arrested. They raided a room in a private hotel in Ashok Nagar and recovered Rs 4 lakh cash and 11 mobile phones from them.

They were arrested while carrying out betting on the cricket World Cup semi-final match between India and Australia.
