<p>Power generation at the 500 MW unit of the Ballari Thermal Power Station (BTPS) came to a grinding halt following a major fire accident on Monday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The Ballari Thermal Power Station Executive Director Rathnamma said that the fire destroyed the transformer in the first unit of the power station affecting power generation. <br /><br />She further said that it may need at least a minimum of ten days to repair the unit completely. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained, Director Rathnamma said.<br /></p>
