Honda hopes that the improved style, performance, advanced features, mileage, and riding comfort of the enhanced Unicorn will make it a winner among young enthusiasts.

If you ask a motorbike-enthusiast friend to suggest a bike in the over-150 cc segment, chances are that he may recommend a Honda Unicorn. By far, Unicorn by the Japanese vehicle major is counted among the popular bikes in the country’s commuter bike segment. One reason for the success of this particular model from the Honda stable is its engine. Even after a few thousand kilometres of riding through pot-holed roads, its engine continues to be smooth as silk on the performance front.

Honda, banking on Unicorn’s popularity with the mass market, has redesigned the bike to fit the requirements of  younger buyers. The Japanese major this year launched the CB Unicorn, which is better off in terms of looks and performance than its predecessor.

Honda expects to meet the requirements of the youth in terms of style, performance, advanced features, mileage, and riding comfort with its enhanced Unicorn.

The latest CB Unicorn 160 boasts of a 163-cc mid-sized advanced Honda engine that is powered by Honda Eco Technology (HET). The power plant of the bike produces maximum power of 14.5bhp@8,000 rpm and maximum healthy torque 14.6Nm@6,000 rpm.

The bike also puts out a commendable power and torque at low speed. That means you don’t have to constantly change gears while riding down city roads. On the style front, Honda has refrained from experimenting with graphics or out-of-the-box designs.

It has kept the style simple and made it look slicker, with extended fuel tank, LED tail light which is designed in a stylish H-shape, and chrome-finished muffler.

The new CB Unicorn has a Combi-Brake System (CBS) based on disc and drum brake combination, which inspires the confidence of the rider. CB Unicorn weighs at least 10 kg lesser than its predecessor and the impact of that could be felt by the rider on the highways. The riding position is upright, which helps riders to tackle corners with ease.

The makers also promise more than 60 kmpl mileage, which is an impressive number for the class. While the standard variant of the CB Unicorn 160 is priced at Rs 72,268 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), the top-end CB Unicorn 160 comes with a price tag of Rs 80,616 (ex-showroom).
