Bhaskaracharya principal quits, says cannot work with DU VC

The officiating principal of Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Manoj Khanna resigned from his post, saying that he was “not comfortable working with the Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh”.

The university had on March 18 extended his term for six months.

“I sincerely express my thanks to you and the University of Delhi for reposing faith in me and extending my tenure as officiating principal of the college further for a period of six months w.e.f 18.3.15. However, I would like to inform you that in the present circumstances, I am not interested in continuing as officiating principal of the college,” the resignation submitted on April 1 to the governing body of his college says.

In his letter to the VC, he reiterated his inability to continue as officiating principal.
‘Main reasons’

“One of the main reasons for my resignation was the university authority’s attitude especially when it came to process of teacher appointments,” he said, alleging that the university was forcibly asking principals to submit an affidavit stating incorrectly that all AICTE norms for teaching BTech courses were complied with.

“The university is just playing with the career of students this way,” Khanna said.
The DU administration has accused him of not filling up vacant posts for teachers and eyeing for a permanent post as principal.

“He refused to display teachers’ vacancies despite repeated reminders. He was also eying the position of permanent principal, something he doesn’t qualify for,” said Malay Neerav, media coordinator and joint dean of students’ welfare.

Khanna denied the allegations, saying, “If I was so wrong, why did the university extend my term?”

“We are seeing a death of democracy in this university. Principals are expected to work as puppets. It is not possible to work as a principal in these circumstances,” he said.
