Keeping our homes clean isn’t an easy task. Our hectic lifestyles take a toll on our homes, too. But with some simple, regular cleaning, you can maintain the beauty of your home for eternity. And not break a sweat. What’s more, you can also eliminate the exorbitant repair charges.

Here are some ideas that can help maintain your home:

Mind the wall

A newly-constructed house may develop cracks in walls, or the change in seasons may induce dampness in them. But fret not! Those cracks can be filled in easily with cement plaster. And to get rid of the monsoon dampness, go in for some painting drive.

Regular painting for both internal and exterior walls is advised once in five years as this enhances the life of the walls. Don’t forget to clean your rooftop as dirt collected over a period of time can also cause dampness in the ceiling. Also, use PVC pipelines instead of
cement ones to eliminate all possibilities of dampness.

Let it shine

Ceramic floors need regular cleaning. Invest in some mild detergents to bring the shine on. Even doors and windows can be cleaned using these detergents. For an added touch, go in for aromatic detergents and cleaning liquids to keep away insects and lend a fresh appeal to the space. Use of acids for cleaning should be avoided as it will damage the tiles.

Door troubles

Door hinges and latches tend to stiffen over a period of time. This may be due to a shift in the position of the doors due to its own weight or due to seasonal expansion and contractions. For a perfect solutions, call a carpenter to fix all the creaky hinges. On your part, remember to oil the hinges regularly, at least once in six months.

Fix that leak

Joints in kitchen sink and in kitchen platform need proper sealing with white cement and other solvents. Any leakage of water lines or in the plumbing system in bathrooms and toilets should be set right immediately. Remember, non-biodegradable materials should not be thrown in the plumbing system.

Suspended particles in the water canaccumulate over a period of time in overhead tanks and sump tanks and reduce the lifespan of the tanks and introduce impurities in the system. Clean your tanks regularly with alum to help maintain the purity.

Electrical fittings

Use of good-quality electrical wires for power connection will prevent leakage due to short circuit and other electrical problems. It is better to inspect the electrical components in the house once in three or four years. However, damaged switches, plug points and loosely-hanging wires should be replaced immediately.

Garden tales

Your yard or garden is a breeding ground for all kinds of insects. Ensure that you clean the area properly every three weeks or so. Take out the dead leaves, flowers and all other types of dirt from your yard.

All said and done, remember that if you dedicate some amount of your time to cleaning chores, then you will have a beautiful, clean and inviting home for life.
