Several crores ride on Salman, two big releases in 2015

'The line up for Khan in 2015 and 2016 is solid'

More than Rs 200 crore is riding on actor Salman Khan, whose fate would be decided on May 6 when the Mumbai Session Court announces its verdict on him in the 13-year-old drunken-driving and hit-and-run case.

On September 28, 2002, one person was killed and four others injured when Khan, 49, dashed his Toyata Land Cruiser Lexus onto the pavements of the American Express Bakery in the Hill Road-St Andrews Road junction of Bandra-West posh locality of Mumbai.

The two films that are under production are – Kabir Khan’s “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” and Sooraj Barjatya’s “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”.

“The line up for Salman Khan in 2015 and 2016 is solid and several crores are riding on the actor,” sources said.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan features a romantic relationship between a Muslim man and a Brahmin woman and besides Khan other in lead roles are Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The shooting of this film is underway in Jammu & Kashmir.

 As far as Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is concerned, Khan and Sonam Kapoor, daughter of Anil Kapoor, play lead roles besides Neil Nitin Mukesh, the grandson of legendary singer Mukesh.  

Another of his planned projects is remake of 1983 Jackie Shroff-starring blockbuster “Hero” which is likely to be produced by Khan’s production company and the film would have Sooraj Pancholi, the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, and Athiya Shetty, the daughter of Suneil Shetty.  

After this another family production, “Dabangg 3” has been planned. Besides, there are a series of commercial endorsements. 

Over the last few years, the action hero has been giving hits like “Dabangg”, “Dabangg 2”, “Kick”, “Jai Ho”, “Ek Tha Tiger”, “Wanted”, “Bodyguard” and so on.DH News Service
