Last Updated 27 April 2015, 18:42 IST

Capgemini India, which has 10 locations in India, will rationalise its hiring strategy in the aftermath of the acquisition of IGATE, said Capgemini Chairman and CEO Paul Hermelin.

Interacting with Deccan Herald in a teleconference from San Francisco, Hermelin said  the company inaugurated its Bengaluru facility with a capacity of 5,000 seats in in January.

“We have to rework on the hiring strategy in India. IGATE has two operational centres in India, one in Pune and another one in Hyderabad. We have to look into the synergy developing out of the acquisition,” said Hermelin. Capgemini, which undertakes 47 per cent of its worldwide delivery via offshoring centres, is undertaking over 70 per cent of those work via India.

According to Hermelin, the company already reached a staff strength of 60,000 in India. “I do hope we will reach one lakh in 2016 once this acquisition is completed,” he said.

Capgemini Group is the only European firm to employ more than 50,000 people in India, making the country its largest offshoring centre. Recently Capgemini India CEO Aruna Jayanthi announced the company’s ambition to reach about 70,000 people in India by 2016.
