Farmers stage dharna against illegal mining in G'bidanur

Illegal sand mining is continuing unabated on the banks of Uttara Pinakini river and Doddakere tank in Balareddyhalli. The district administration has failed to act against sand mining and initiate action against the people involved, president of Sangha taluk unit, M R Lakshminarayana alleged.

He sought to stringent measures against people causing damage to environment.
The protesters also urged that the staff of Primary Land Bank have been harassing farmers for recovery of the loan and the bank authorities should drop coercive recovery proceedings.

Tahsildar Dr Sudha, who spoke on the occasion sought cooperation from the farmers and public at large in containing illegal sand transportation.

G V Lokesh Gowda, Shendi Ashwathappa, Murthy and many others took part in the protest.
