Govt to hike fee of all professional courses

Last Updated 02 May 2015, 20:36 IST

Minister of State for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil on Saturday said the fee for all professional courses will go up from the present academic year.

While the fee for postgraduate courses has already been increased, Patil said there is a lot of pressure on the government to increase the fee for even undergraduate courses in the State.

“Over the last seven years, there has been no revision of the fees in the State for professional courses. We are considering the proposal to revise the fee structure upwards,” he said.

He said the government will hold a meeting with department officials on the revision of the fee structure and seat-sharing agreement with regard to medical colleges. However, a meeting on Saturday evening in this regard with all the officials concerned ended inconclusively.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Patil said: “No decision was taken either on fee structure or seat sharing in today’s meeting. There were some issues of the Higher Education Department, which were discussed without any conclusion.” He said a meeting would be held again for the purpose.
