BJP prez blamed for poor condition of Gujarat cops

Former cop and accused in Sohrabuddin and Ishrat Jahan fake encounter cases, D G Vanzara has dropped another bomb by stating that BJP president Amit Shah may have been discharged by a CBI court but remains “very much an accused in  Sohrabuddin-Tulsiram encounter case even today”.

In a letter addressed to Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Government of Gujarat, Vanzara said: “The law is very clear, which says that even if they are discharged from the case by Hon’ble CBI court and later on discharged by High Court and Supreme Court, they can be called back again as accused by the trial court and made to stand beside us to face the trial at an appropriate stage of proceedings.”

Vanzara, in the letter dated May 1, 2015, appears miffed at the promotion of Geetha Johri as DGP over P P Pandey. The letter terms unlawful the denial of promotion to ADG P P Pandey (an accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case) and other officers. “I am taking a very strong exception to the unlawful supersession of Shri P P Pandey whom I know to be one of the finest and rarest police officers of Gujarat,” writes Vanzara. The letter says the denial of promotion was tantamount to “humiliation”.

Vanzara accuses Johri, Amit Shah and former DGP P C Pande of forming a trio that “created sorry state of affairs for Gujarat Police in general and accused police officers and men in particular”. The trio played a key role in denying due and timely promotions to several police officials in Gujarat.

He further issues a warning, stating “At this stage, I can only ensure that all the discharged accused politicians/police officers of Sohrabuddin-Tulsiram encounter case...will not be allowed to go scot free if they try to serve just their own interests at the cost of the legitimate interests of the remaining accused police officers and men who will be facing trial.”

Commenting on the political situation in the country, the letter says: “Now a days, national interests are sacrificed on the altar of party interests, party interests are sacrificed on the altar of group interests and group interests are sacrificed on the altar of individual interests. And that is how dirty politics operates everywhere in the country from top to bottom.”
