Newlywed housewife hangs herself

A 22-year-old newlywed housewife committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Kasturi Nagar in Basaweshwaranagar on Friday.

According to the police, the deceased is Pavithra. She married Karthik, a private company employee, about six months ago.

Pavithra hanged herself in the bedroom, after her husband left for work on Friday morning. She was found that evening when Karthik returned home.

He informed the police and his in-laws, who rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem.

Pavithra’s parents registered a complaint against Karthik and his parents claiming that their daughter was tortured for dowry, said the police.
