The victim of sexual assault at KEM hospital Aruna Shanbaug passed away after being in coma for last 42 years. Country should salute her and the generation of nurses who took care of her by instituting an award in the name of Aruna Shanbaug.

Modi’s decision to extend e-visa facility to Chinese visitors despite objections from Indian intelligence agencies is a smart move. It was reported that almost 6,300 Chinese tourists have recently visited Paris, Morocco and Nice due to their opening up of e-visa facilities.
A modest estimate is that over the next four years 175 millions Chinese tourists are expected to go around the world. Modi’s decision will help in tapping this opportunity.

Good show, students
Sir,
This refers to "Students put up impressive show" (DH, May 19). It is heartening to learn that students from Bengaluru have come out with flying colours in the pre-university exams, topping all three streams- arts, science and commerce. As usual girls have managed to steal a march over the boys with a total pass percentage of 68.24 versus 53.09.
What takes the cake is that the English medium schools have fared better than the Kannada ones and this possibly explains why there is such a scramble for English medium schools. However, it is a matter of concern that the number of colleges with zero passes has shot up to 47, as against 45 last year and setting a strict benchmark for these colleges would be in order.
