Siddaramaiah has failed State on all counts: BSY

Last Updated 21 May 2015, 17:10 IST

The State government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has failed to take up development works in rural areas, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said.

Briefing reporters, on Wednesday, he said “Namma Grama Namma Rasthe” announced by the State government has failed to take up.  Siddaramaih had promised to construct 20 km of roads in rural areas in all Assembly Constituencies. But no action had been taken yet, he said.

During the previous BJP regime, the government had earmarked Rs 5 crore to each assembly constituency to rejuvenate lakes. The present government has failed to initiate measures to develop water bodies. Though the State government had promised to announce the formation of the Lake Development Authority, no concrete action had been taken for development or desilting of lakes in rural areas, the former CM said adding that Agriculture Price Commission has failed to submit its report.

Yeddyurappa said inspite of loss of agriculture produce including that of grapes, mango and pomagranate in the state due to untimely rain, the government has failed to submit its report to the Centre.

Though Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been making hue and cry over Anna Bhagya scheme, the former chief minister said the  fact was that nearly 95 per cent of rice for Anna Bhagya scheme was being supplied by the Centre. The State requires 2.24 lakh tonne for Anna Bhagya Scheme. The Centre supplies 2.17 lakh tonne at subsidised rate while 1.66 lakh tonne wheat is supplied at concessional rate. The state government has failed to utilise Rs 4,854 crore earmarked for the welfare of SC/ST community members during 2014-15 budget.

The former CM said he will work towards strengthening the BJP in the State. Stating that the Centre is pushing for Land Acquisition Bill only to promote development in the country.

The Bill will help in the implementation of pending railway, road and irrigation projects.  The Congress is misleading the people on the Bill by portraying it as pro-corporate sector.
