Home ministry notification shows BJP is nervous: Kejriwal

Last Updated 22 May 2015, 08:48 IST

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday the home affairs ministry's notification asserting the Lt. Governor's power in public order and services issues showed BJP's nervousness against its anti-corruption effort.

"The BJP first lost Delhi elections. Today's notification shows BJP's nervousness about our anti-corruption efforts. The BJP again lost today," Kejriwal tweeted.

The notification was issued on Thursday, but it came to light on Friday. It said: "Article 239AA inserted by the constitution (sixty ninth amendment act 1991) provides that the UT of Delhi shall be called NCT of Delhi and the administrator thereof shall be designated as Lt. Governor."

Reacting to notification, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia called the transfer and posting of the officers an "industry".

"This notification clears that how much the transfer-posting industry of Delhi is scared of us," he tweeted.

"It (notification) is a bid to save the transfer-posting industry," he added.

"Reports hint that the MHA along with some corrupt bureaucrats are readying a diktat which would ensure the transfers and posting could be done by the LG alone."

"Transfer and posting of the officers in Delhi and make them work is a responsibility of the Delhi government," Sidodia tweeted.
